can i try a class for free?

Yes! Prospective members are welcome to come in a try a class or even 2 for free. If it's your first free class at our gym please be sure to arrive 20 minutes before class begins so you can sign our waiver and change clothes, enabling you to be on the mat when class begins.

Do i need my own gear?

For your first 2 classes you are welcome to use gear from the loaner fleet we have in stock. We have sizes ranging from Kids xxs to Adult xxxl. After you try class and decide if our school is the right choice for you we encourage you to purchase a Gi for your training. We carry a full range of Paragon Brand training gear in the gym and can order sizes we may not have in stock. Ask our representative at the front desk for assistance with gear sizing and ordering.

what do you recommend for beginners?

We offer a great "white belt" (beginner) class taught by "Wutang Pete". Classes are held each evening Monday thru Thursday from 6pm to 7pm. This is a great place to start! White belts are also welcome at the noon classes led by Black Belt John Letters. There you will be mixed in with various skill levels but the class size is often smaller and it's a great place to get a good feeling for what our gym has to offer you as a student.

How old does my child have to be to start classes?

Our youngest students begin at age 4. We have a strong children's program and welcome you to bring your little ones in and have them try class out. If it's their first free class at our gym please be sure to arrive 20 minutes before class begins so you can sign the waiver and change your child's clothes, enabling them to be on the mat when class begins.

Do I have to sign a contract to be a member?

We offer multiple ways to be an active member at Paragon of Santa Maria. You can pay month to month or sign a contract. Signing a 12 month contract gives you a $30 discount per month from our regular monthly fees. We also have other flexible membership options such as a one-day-a-week option for those that  have less time to train or private lessons for those working with a specific schedule. Please ask our representative at the front desk for assistance in choosing the membership option that works best for you.
